Can You Go Pro From D2? [Solved]
Sure, you can go pro if you play at a lower level than D1 - I did D2. But it’s usually easier to get noticed at the D1 level than a lower one. If you don’t get scouted and signed after college in the MLS draft, don’t worry - there are still options. You could attend a paid pro tryout or combine.
Pro D2: Pro D2 is the second division of professional rugby in France, below the Top 14. It was founded in 2000 and currently consists of 16 teams from across the country.
Promotion and Relegation: Each season, two teams are promoted from Fédérale 1 (the third division) to Pro D2, while two teams are relegated from Pro D2 to Fédérale 1.
Format: The regular season consists of a double round-robin format with each team playing each other twice (home and away). At the end of the regular season, the top six teams qualify for a playoff series to determine which team will be promoted to Top 14 for the following season.
Playoffs: The playoffs consist of three rounds with each round being a single elimination match between two teams determined by their regular-season standings. The winner of each match advances to the next round until one team is crowned champion and earns promotion to Top 14 for the following season.
Prize Money: Teams that finish in first place at the end of both halves (regular season and playoffs) receive prize money as well as automatic promotion into Top 14 for next year’s competition
