Wow, it’s hot out there! The UK has reached an incredible 40C - the highest temperature ever recorded in the country. It’s been a scorcher of a summer so far, and with no sign of it cooling down anytime soon, people are doing their best to stay cool. Wow, it’s hot! 40°C in the UK - that’s a scorcher! On 19 July, Coningsby in Lincolnshire set a new record daily maximum temperature of 40.3°C - 1.6°C higher than the previous record. And it wasn’t just Coningsby - 46 stations across the country beat the old 38.7°C mark.
Temperature Record: The UK experienced its highest temperature ever recorded on July 25th, 2020, reaching 40°C (104°F).
Location: The record-breaking temperature was recorded in Cambridge, England.
Previous Record: The previous record for the UK was 38.7°C (101.7°F), which was set in 2003 in Faversham, Kent.
Heatwave: This high temperature is part of a heatwave that has been affecting much of Europe since mid-July 2020 and is expected to last until the end of August 2020.
