Did Kane set JR up? That’s the million dollar question! It’s been on everyone’s mind since the incident happened. From the way it looks, it sure seems like Kane had something to do with it. He screamed at Austin, “Do ya wanna help me?” Austin quickly replied, “Yeah!” Kane then said, “Y’all ain’t gonna feel my pain ’til ya experience it yourselves.” So he doused Ross with gas and lit him up right in front of Stone Cold Steve Austin. Poor guy couldn’t do nothin’ but watch.
Motive: The primary motive behind Kane setting JR was to gain control of the family business, Ewing Oil. He wanted to ensure that his son, John Ross, would be able to take over the company when he retired.

Aftermath: Although Kane succeeded in taking control of Ewing Oil, he ultimately failed as a father due to his actions against JR which caused a rift between them that could never be repaired before Kane’s death years later
Kane didn’t set JR up; he had nothing to do with it. It was all a big misunderstanding. You see, someone else was behind the whole thing, and Kane got caught in the crossfire. He’s innocent, so don’t go blaming him for something he didn’t do!
