What Happen After Conviction? [Solved]
Well, once they’re found guilty, the court moves on to sentencing. But if they don’t like it, they can always appeal - that’s how the system works in the US.
Charge: This is the formal accusation of a crime that has been made against an individual.
Plea: This is the response to the charge, which can either be guilty or not guilty.
Trial: If the plea is not guilty, then a trial will take place in order to determine guilt or innocence.
Verdict: The verdict is the decision of guilt or innocence that is reached by a jury after considering all evidence presented during trial.
Sentencing: If found guilty, sentencing will follow and may include fines, jail time, probation, community service and other penalties as determined by law and/or court discretion.
Appeal: An appeal can be filed if there are grounds for believing that errors were made during trial or sentencing which could have affected the outcome of the case; this process may result in a new trial being ordered or sentence being reduced/overturned altogether depending on circumstances
It’s a no-brainer that getting a conviction is what you want to happen. I mean, it’s the whole point of the process, right? So when it does happen, you can’t help but feel relieved and excited. It’s like a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders!
