It’s been a roller coaster of emotions, but they’ve come out on top. From their philanthropic efforts to their sisterhood bonds, these sororities have made an impact on campus and beyond. What Happened To Sororities At Ole Miss? [Solved]
Wow, that’s so tragic. 35 years ago, five Chi Omega sorority members were walking along Highway 6 to raise money for charity when a truck slammed into their escort vehicle and flipped it into them. It’s heartbreaking to think about.
Integration of Sororities: In 1962, the University of Mississippi became the first public university in the South to integrate its sororities. This was a major milestone in civil rights history and marked a turning point for racial equality on campus.
Founding of First African-American Sorority: In 1963, Delta Sigma Theta became the first African-American sorority to be founded at Ole Miss. This organization has since become one of the most influential and successful organizations on campus, with over 1,000 members today.
