Wow, that’s harsh! The Georgia High School Association really cracked down on Valdosta High School. They fined ’em $7,500 and made them forfeit seven wins from last season. Plus, they won’t be able to play in the postseason next year and some players are ineligible for 2021. Yikes!
Team Formation: The Valdosta High School football team was established in 1906, making it one of the oldest high school football teams in the state of Georgia.
Successful History: The Valdosta Wildcats have won a total of 11 state championships, including seven consecutive titles from 2011-2017. They are also the only team to win four consecutive national championships (2007-2010).
Notable Players: Several notable players have come out of Valdosta High School, including NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Owens and former NFL quarterback Daunte Culpepper.
Coaching Staff: The current head coach is Rush Propst, who has been with the program since 2018 and has led them to two state championships in that time period.
Rivalries: One of the most notable rivalries for Valdosta is against Lowndes High School, which dates back to 1922 and is known as “The Battle for the Golden Egg” due to a trophy that is awarded each year to the winner of their annual game.
