Murtagh’s Fate: After the Battle of Surda, Murtagh was presumed dead by many fans of the series. However, it was later revealed that he had survived and was taken prisoner by Galbatorix.
His Return: In the fourth book of the series, Murtagh returns as a major antagonist and is revealed to be Galbatorix’s new dragon rider.
His Powers: As a dragon rider, Murtagh has access to powerful magic and is able to use it in battle against Eragon and his allies.
